hile the COP22 insisted on the issue of adaptation, particularly relevant for the most vulnerable countries, it focused especially on adaptation metrics in an intent to identify tools for facilitating adaptation nance.
The rst conference, hosted in Skhirate on september 27, 2016, explored di erent pathways to measure adaptation, whereas the second, organized in Ben Guerir on October 6-7, 2017, emphasized on a sectoral approach for water and agriculture, identi ed as the two most critical sectors.
The outcomes of the rst conference were submitted by the Kingdom of Morocco to the UNFCCC website, and the outcomes of the second conference are currently being redacted.
The COP22 set as part of its legacy the constitution of an experts cluster on adap- tation metrics, gathering all the panelists of the two conferences, and converging all the publications to a web platform to be hosted by the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic of Ben Guerir.
A further step will be to develop a Massive Online Open Course on adaptation met- rics, with the expected contribution of the Cluster’s members.
These issues will be presented in a side event to be hosted at the Moroccan Pavilion in the Bonn Zone of COP23, on Thursday, November 9, from 9:00 to 10:30 am.
